Presentation Themes

Presentation themes include, but are not limited to, the following:

Distance learning practices, teaching and learning with Etudes and other technologies, designing engaging content and activities for students, mentoring new faculty, best practices, tips and tools to become a better Etudes (online) teacher, retention practices, learning communities, effective group work and collaboration, accessibility, assessment and accountability, diversity, and student success strategies. 

Presentation Types

  • Breakout Sessions - Informational presentations on any of the topics in the suggested strands.
  • Roundtables - Interactive venue for the exploration of key issues within the suggested program strands. These discussions cannot accommodate equipment other than presenter's computer.
  • Tool Demos - "How-to" sessions to demonstrate uses of Etudes tools and other technologies.
  • Show & Tell - Demo sessions on strategies, tips, and techniques used successfully in Etudes courses. 

Audiovisual Equipment

Each session will be equipped with a laptop, data projector, and a screen. Any other equipment must be supplied by the presenter.

Expenses

Presenters are paid neither honoraria nor expenses and are required to register for the Summit and pay the registration fee.

Proposal Review

Submitted proposals will be reviewed and presenters notified by March 11, 2010.

Criteria for Selection

Presentations will be reviewed for their:

  • Innovative, unique, or thought-provoking subjects, topics, and/or strategies
  • Relevance to the needs and challenges of teaching, learning, and collaboration in the online environment
  • Relevance to users and support staff of Etudes. 
  • Appeal to a broad cross-section of college professionals
