Import/Upload
Functional Requirements!
Purpose
The purpose of Gradebook Import/Upload functionality is to provide a simple method to:
- Upload a csv formatted spreadsheet representing students' assignment scores
- Hold and display the uploaded spreadsheet in a “loading dock” area where instructors can access and work with the file across sessions
- Allow the site owner to view contents of the uploaded file at any time
- Allow the site owner to import assignment scores from the uploaded file
- into the gradebook at any time
- Provide the ability to upload more than one file to the loading dock
- Provide the ability to delete files from the loading dock
The new functionality can be accessed through a new link in the menu of the gradebook titled "Upload/Import" (see image).
Requirements
1. Spreadsheet Requirements
To be usable with Gradebook Import/Upload, a spreadsheet must:
1.1. Be saved in csv format
1.2. Provide labels in the first row
1.3. Provide student usernames in the first column
1.4. Spreadsheet columns must contain numerical values
2. Upload/Import View
2.1. Upload Spreadsheet (csv) file to Loading Dock Action
2.2 Loading Dock
2.2.1 Title of Uploaded Spreadsheet (csv) file if any
2.2.2 Date Uploaded
2.2.3 View uploaded Spreadsheet (csv) file
2.2.4 Import Assignment from an uploaded Spreadsheet (csv) file
2.2.5 Delete an uploaded Spreadsheet (csv) file
2.2.6 Advanced/Future Feature: import the entire contents of Spreadsheet (csv) file
3. Upload a Spreadsheet (csv) file
3.1. Title of Spreadsheet (csv) file
3.2 Choose a file
3.3.1 Browse/File picker
3.3.2 On uploading a Spreadsheet (csv) file, the system provides a verification screen, showing what would be displayed for the first user record. If not accepted by user, file upload does not continue. Returns to Upload a Spreadsheet (csv) file View.
4. View uploaded Spreadsheet (csv) file
4.1. For site owner to view contents of uploaded Spreadsheet (csv) file
4.2 Provide a table display of columns and rows which match the original spreadsheet row and column layout
5. Import Gradebook/Assignment Items
5.1. For site owner to import scores for one assignment from Spreadsheet (csv) file
5.2.1 Provide a table display of columns and rows which match the original spreadsheet row and column layout
5.2.2. Provide radio button selectors above each column:
5.2.3 Import Selected action via a button for selected column
5.2.4 Import Selected action goes to Import Assignment View
5.3 Import Assignment
5.3.1 Title of Assignment (required)
5.3.2 Assignment Point Value (required)
5.3.3 Assignment Due Date (optional) w/Date Picker
5.3.4 Include Assignment in final grade CheckBox (optional)
5.3.3 Submit/Cancel
5.4.1 Display confirmation
