Welcome to Etudes-NG (Next Generation) -- a teaching, learning, and collaboration environment. This system serves faculty, staff, and learners from Etudes Consortium institutions.

Please review system requirements below:

Computer (PC and Mac) and Connectivity Requirements
Be sure you are using a supported browser. They are free downloads.
- PC Users: Internet Explorer 7.0 SP2 or Firefox 2.x or above.
  - PC Supported Browsers
  - Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 is supported, but IE 7.0 SP2 is recommended
- Mac users: Download Firefox 2.x here! Mac users must be running OSX 10.3 or above. Be sure to download the Mac OS X/English version.
  - Macintosh Supported Browsers
Configure your browser's cache. 99% of problems are due to incorrect "cache" browser settings.
- Macintosh Browser CACHE Settings
- PC Browser CACHE Settings
Configure cookies, JavaScript, pop-up blocker.
Accept Etudes-NG SSL certificate and settings for alerts.

Other ISP & browser considerations:

IMPORTANT note for AOL Users! Do NOT use AOL's browser.
Satellite ISP's are NOT recommended! Users who are using Direcway or Hughes Satellite ISP's might encounter technology problems and intermittent issues with Etudes-NG that are beyond our control.
Use of Multiple Browser Windows is a no-no! Do NOT open more than one Etudes-NG browser window while being logged into the system. It is easy to log yourself out of one and get logged out of the others, losing what you were working on - assignments, tests, etc. You will be prompted to log back in!

For Faculty Authors ONLY

Additionally, faculty must install the free Java Plug-in, or they will not be able to author content in the Melete Lesson Builder using the Sferyx Editor. See instructions below for the platform you use:

MAC Users - Java Plug-in comes with FireFox 1.5.0.8 and above. You need not install anything.

IMPORTANT: Mac users - If you had installed the plugin that was required for FireFox 1.0.6, or you have a new Intel based Macs or other Macs with OS X 10.4 you must clear the plugins from your system to avoid serious conflicts.
PC Users - Java Plug-in Setup Instructions for Faculty Authors

Instructors should have a system with at least 512 mg of memory. 1G is preferred. Close down other applications to have more memory available when working with Etudes-NG.
