If you would like to stop receiving email notifications from the system, you have to change your preferences in two areas, and 'unwatch' discussion topics.

Here is what to do:

1) Go to MyWorkspace >> Preferences
  • You will be taken to the Notifications screen.
  • Under each area listed (Announcements, Email Archive, Resources, Syllabus), click on the third radio button that says, "Do not send me low priority..."
  • Click on Update Preferences so that your changes take effect.

Important: Please note that your instructor has the ability to override your preferences and push email notifications to your in-box, if he or she must send high-priority information to you.

2) Go to any of your course TABS >> Go to Discussion & Private Messages

  • Click on MyProfile (top menu bar)
    • Select "NO" for "Send e-mail when a private message is sent."
    • Select 'NO" for "Send e-mail notification when new topics are posted."
    • Be sure to update/save your changes.
  • Other tips for stopping notifications in the Discussion tool:
    • NEVER check the box "Notify when a reply is posted" when you reply to messages.
    • To stop notification from topics that may be already set to 'watch', click on the topic to open it, and then click on 'unwatch.'

If you have any questions, please send a message to your institution's student help desk. See web page with links to participating member institutions on the left, Login Help.
