John Wagstaff has worked in higher education for over thirty years, serving in Universities, Colleges and Community Colleges throughout the country. He moved to California in 1992 to be the Director of Media, Learning and Information Resources at Peralta Community College District. In 1996 he was appointed to be the District's Director of Information Technology, Management Information Systems. Since then, Mr. Wagstaff has served as the lead administrator on all matters related to Information Technology including Enterprise Resource Planning systems, technology planning, library automation and operations, telecourse and online distance learning, and state and local data/telephony network planning and implementation. He is an elected member of the California Community Colleges Chief Information Systems Officers Association.

In addition to chairing the Etudes Board of Directors, Mr. Wagstaff also serves on two California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office committees; the Telecommunication Technology Advisory Committee and the System-wide Architecture Committee.

 
Diane RosnerDiane Rosner

Diane Rosner received her BA in Spanish from UCLA and her Master's in Spanish from the University of Nevada, Reno. She has walked a mile in many shoes, including adjunct faculty for 11 years, full time faculty for 14 years, and she currently serves as Dean of Instruction, all at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC). She was one of the co-founders of LTCC's internationally recognized Intensive Spanish Summer Institute (ISSI), which just celebrated its fifteenth year.

In an attempt to combat declining enrollment, Diane worked with Vivie Sinou to begin to identify the online teaching "stars" and recruit them to teach for LTCC. After hiring a steady stream of wonderful online instructors, LTCC began to turn the declining enrollment trend around and is now garnering over $1 million/year through online courses.

Diane was one of the original steering committee members for the Etudes project, and now serves as a board member for Etudes.org.

Charles is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Information at the University of Michigan. Charles also works with the IMS Global Learning Consortium as the IMS Developer Network Coordinator. Previously he was the Executive Director of the Sakai Foundation and the Chief Architect of the Sakai Project.

Charles is the Author of the book High Performance Computing, Second Edition, published by O'Reilly and Associates. Charles has a background in standards including serving as the vice-chair for the IEEE Posix P1003 standards effort and edited the Standards Column in IEEE Computer Magazine from 1995-1999.

Charles currently is teaching in the University of Michigan School of Information. Charles has also taught in Computer Science at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Charles has a B.S., M.S., and Phd. in Computer Science from Michigan State University.
 
 
Dr. Ed GouldDr. Ed Gould

Dr. Ed Gould, a veteran California community college leader has served as Superintendent/President of four community college districts, Vice Chancellor of Student Services and Special Programs for the California Community College System Office, and four years as an Associate Dean for Higher Education Graduate Programs at Capella University, a private for profit university, and two years as a corporate executive for eCollege.

While at San Joaquin Delta College, Dr. Gould saw an experimental online program grow from 50 students to 5,000 in a three year period of time. He recognized the power of online learning to the adult learner and went on a journey to discover how best to provide online services to students.

He is a noted speaker on the future of education and the impact that online learning in the future.
 

 
Eric IchonEric Ichon
Dean of Distance Learning & Instructional Technology
West Los Angeles College
Eric Ichon, the Dean of Distance Learning & Instructional Technology for West Los Angeles College (WLAC), has over 10 years of experience in distance learning including instructional delivery via satellite, videoconferencing and, of course, online. Dean Ichon joined the faculty of WLAC as the Instructional Media Specialist in 1997 and founded their Distance Learning Program in 1999. WLAC now has the largest Distance Learning Program in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD).

Professor Ichon received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and his Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin. In 1990 he moved to Los Angeles to work as the Reader Services Manager for the Braille Institute. In 1995 he joined the Immaculate Heart College Center as the Center Librarian.

Professor Ichon has chaired, and is currently a member of, the LACCD Distance Education Committee and serves on the Instructional and Student Services Technology Committee. Professor Ichon was one of the original members of the ETUDES Advisory Board and now serves on the ETUDES Board of Trustees.
 

 
Jon TownsendJon Townsend
Professional Development Coordinator
San Joaquin Delta College
Jon Townsend has worked at San Joaquin Delta College since 1981 and is currently the Professional Development Center Coordinator. He has held several other positions at the college including Webmaster and adjunct Music Instructor.

Jon has been involved with online instruction at Delta College since its infancy in 1999, a program that by the Spring of 2009 has grown to 225 online and 53 Web enhanced sections. He is one of two Etudes trainers on campus and is the primary faculty support person.

He is a CVC Certified Trainer (California Virtual Campus), a member of ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) and holds certificates in E-Learning Instructional Design, Designing Learning, and Advanced Designing Learning.

Jon is co-recipient of the Technology 2001 Focus Award for the “Deltaonline Project” presented by the Chancellor’s Office of the California Community Colleges. The "Deltaonline Project" was the college's first group of online courses.
 

 
Vivie SinouVivie Sinou

Vivie leads, manages, and supports the Etudes community and organization. She is responsible for the strategic planning and vision of Etudes, as well as product management and development of the Etudes-NG (Next Generation) software. Vivie formed the ETUDES Consortium in 2002 and extended Course Management System (CMS) services and support to distance learning programs to over 25 community colleges in California. In 2004, Vivie led the adoption of the Sakai platform for Etudes, and was a founding member of the Sakai Board, representing community college needs.

In May of 2008, Vivie founded Etudes, Inc., and led Etudes from a campus project to a non-profit 501(c)(3), public charity organization that leads open source development and offers e-learning services to higher education institutions. Vivie also spear-headed the Sofia initiative for undergraduate education, and is helping shape the vision of both open source and open education resources. Vivie was the recipient of the 2002 Technology Leadership Award from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. She also received the League Innovator of the Year Award for Foothill De Anza Community College District (2002).
